The transition to clean energy will take time, but progress can be made now. By specifically calling for MiQ certificates, Meta is setting a clear benchmark for the data centre sector – recognising that independently certified and verified gas is the only credibly way to address methane emissions across the supply chain.
Meta has set the bar – the opportunity now is for others to follow.
Today MiQ certified over 7% of global gas supply, with operators voluntarily choosing greater transparency and improved performance. Imagine if that same level of accountability applied to the other 93% – the methane reductions achievable this decade would be enormous.
Meta’s move shows the shift is already underway.
