MiQ welcomes report by RMI, EDF, and CATF

MiQ welcomes the report by RMI, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), and Clean Air Task Force (CATF) on implementing the EU’s methane regulations.

RMI, EDF, and CATF have proposed a pragmatic, cost-effective and timely solution for European LNG importers to comply with the EU’s methane regulation requirements. Their consensus proposal keeps the EU’s methane emission transparency and reduction goals front and centre, and they offer an approach that can be implemented today. Their proposal will have minor cost impacts while ensuring energy security and emissions reduction goals.

MiQ urges European LNG importers and EU member state competent authorities to embrace the phased approach recommended by CATF, EDF, and RMI. This is the most effective way to ensure compliance with the EU’s requirements and, most importantly, drive down methane emissions.

MiQ is very supportive of RMI, EDF, and CATF’s proposal and looks forward to working with all in implementing their phased solution.
