About Michael Rabbani

Director, Standards and Certification

As Director of Standards and Certification, Michael oversees the MiQ Certification program and manages client, auditor and stakeholder relationships.

His efforts include fundamental research of emissions data and reduction strategies, coordinating external stakeholder engagement and managing clients and auditors through the Certification process. Michael brings both industry and NGO experience. Previously he worked as a Senior Associate in RMI’s Climate Intelligence program. Prior to RMI, he served as a site process engineer and environmental compliance advisor at ExxonMobil.

MiQ Certification is a robust and transparent process where oil and gas operators can demonstrate exceptional emissions performance while striving to continuously improve, all while bringing consumers greater certainty of their gas’ climate impact. Michael is very excited for the opportunity to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to help the industry decrease its footprint and move towards greater transparency

Michael holds a MSc in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona.

“Immediate reductions in methane emissions are the fastest way to slow the rate of global warming.“
