Director, Market Development

Sharon Paterson is Director, Market Development at MiQ (Methane Intelligence), a not-for-profit climate tech foundation undertaking cutting-edge work to reduce methane emissions in the oil and gas sector.

Sharon is Director of Market Development at MiQ, where she works with energy producers, utilities, industrial buyers, and other stakeholders to advance transparency and emissions reduction across natural gas supply chains. She brings a collaborative, market-focused approach to building relationships and expanding adoption of certified gas as part of the energy transition. Sharon has many years of experience in marketing and business development roles spanning engineered materials, wastewater treatment, air quality and odor management technologies, and sustainability-focused initiatives.

A founding board member of the Southeast Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, Sharon was recognized as Michigan’s 2004 “Sustainable Person of the Year”. She has authored publications and has presented at numerous regional, national and international conferences, including the Water Environment Federation, CERAWeek and GasTech conferences. Sharon is known for her ability to connect technical, environmental and commercial perspectives to help organizations navigate evolving sustainability challenges and opportunities. She received an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth Social and lives with her family in North Carolina.
